Discord time converter: make Discord timestamps that show in everyone’s own time zone
Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server.
Short answer
To show a time in Discord that every reader sees in their own time zone, paste a timestamp tag: <t:UNIX:STYLE>, where UNIX is seconds since January 1, 1970 UTC and STYLE is one letter such as F for full date and time or R for "in 3 hours". Pick your date, time and time zone below; this Discord time converter works out the Unix time and gives you all nine styles from Discord's developer docs, each with a preview and a copy button.
How do Discord timestamps work?
Discord's message formatting supports a timestamp tag. Per the Discord developer docs, <t:TIMESTAMP> shows a time in the default style and <t:TIMESTAMP:STYLE> picks a style. TIMESTAMP is a Unix time in seconds. Discord converts it on each reader's device, so a raid at 19:00 in Dubai shows as 15:00 for someone in London and 08:00 in New York, with no maths in the chat.
What are the Discord timestamp format codes?
These are the styles listed in Discord's docs, with their example output for the Unix time 1618953630:
| Style | Name | Example in docs |
|---|---|---|
t | Short Time | 16:20 |
T | Medium Time | 16:20:30 |
d | Short Date | 20/04/2021 |
D | Long Date | April 20, 2021 |
f | Long Date, Short Time (default) | April 20, 2021 at 16:20 |
F | Full Date, Short Time | Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 16:20 |
s | Short Date, Short Time | 20/04/2021, 16:20 |
S | Short Date, Medium Time | 20/04/2021, 16:20:30 |
R | Relative Time | 4 years ago |
The docs mark f as the default, used when you leave the style off. R updates live: "in 2 hours" becomes "in 1 hour" without anyone editing the message. Most generators stop at seven styles; the docs list nine, including s and S.
How does this Discord time converter work?
- It reads your date and time as wall-clock time in the time zone you pick (it defaults to your browser's zone).
- It finds that zone's UTC offset at that moment with the browser's built-in time zone database (
Intl.DateTimeFormat), and checks it twice so daylight saving changes are handled. - Unix time = (the date and time as UTC) − (the zone's offset), in whole seconds.
- Each style is then just
<t:+ Unix time +:+ letter +>. The previews are drawn withIntlin your locale to approximate what Discord shows.

Worked example: a 7:30 PM event in Dubai
Say your server's game night is October 16, 2026 at 19:30 in Dubai (Asia/Dubai, UTC+4, no daylight saving).
- 19:30 in UTC+4 is 15:30 UTC.
- October 16, 2026, 15:30:00 UTC is Unix time 1792164600.
- Post:
Game night <t:1792164600:F> (<t:1792164600:R>) - A reader in London sees "Friday, 16 October 2026 at 16:30", someone in New York sees 11:30, and both lines stay correct for each person.
How do I find a Unix timestamp without a converter?
- Browser console:
Math.floor(new Date('2026-10-16T19:30:00+04:00') / 1000) - macOS or Linux terminal:
date +%sfor right now - Remember Discord wants seconds. Many tools give milliseconds (13 digits); drop the last three digits.
Why does my Discord timestamp show the wrong time?
- Wrong time zone picked. The date and time you enter must be in the zone selected, not the zone of your readers.
- Milliseconds instead of seconds. A 13-digit number puts the date thousands of years in the future.
- Typing mistakes. The tag needs the angle brackets, a lowercase
t, and the style letter is case-sensitive:dandDdiffer. - Bots and webhooks use the same syntax inside message content.

FAQ
How do I make a Discord timestamp?
Write <t:UNIX:STYLE> in your message, where UNIX is the time in seconds since January 1, 1970 UTC and STYLE is a letter like F or R. This converter works out the Unix time from a date, time and time zone and gives you every style to copy.
What are the Discord timestamp styles?
Discord’s developer docs list t (short time), T (medium time), d (short date), D (long date), f (long date, short time, the default), F (full date, short time), s (short date, short time), S (short date, medium time) and R (relative time).
Do Discord timestamps show in each person’s time zone?
Yes. Discord converts the Unix time on each reader’s device, so everyone sees the time in their own time zone and language.
What does <t:...:R> do in Discord?
It shows relative time, such as "in 2 hours" or "3 days ago", and keeps updating without editing the message.
Why is my Discord timestamp thousands of years off?
You probably used milliseconds. Discord expects Unix time in seconds (10 digits today). Remove the last three digits of a 13-digit number.
Is this Discord time converter free?
Yes. It is free, needs no login, and runs in your browser.
