Oxion AI DEVWEEK code: is the "Claude Fable 5 for free" offer legit?

Short answer

The DEVWEEK code reportedly makes Oxion AI's yearly Pro plan $0, but it does not give you Claude Fable 5 from Anthropic. Oxion is an API gateway whose domain was registered on October 9, 2026. Its terms say model names "may differ from the upstream provider's naming," it sells 200M tokens for $9.50 a month on a model Anthropic prices at $10 to $50 per million, and an independent probe flagged model swaps in 12 of 44 recent checks. Use it, if at all, only for throwaway prompts. Never send it private code.

What does the viral Oxion AI DEVWEEK post promise?

On October 24, 2026 at 12:29 UTC (16:29 Dubai), @k2sbhai posted: "Claude Fable 5 for FREE. Oxion AI Pro is free right now with 33 AI models." The steps were short: go to oxionai.com, pick the Pro plan, apply code DEVWEEK. The promised haul was 200M tokens a month, Claude Fable 5, GPT-5.6 Luna and DeepSeek V4 Pro, working in Cursor, Claude Code, Cline and opencode.

When we checked through the X API on the morning of October 25 (Dubai):

  • @k2sbhai: 46,174 views, 479 likes, 608 bookmarks, 48 reposts and 79 replies. More bookmarks than likes means people saved it to try.
  • @anya_yfa7: 4,923 views, 58 likes, with the same code and a slightly different model list.
  • @MaranDefi: 1,507 views, with the same three steps.

Posts mentioning Oxion or DEVWEEK jumped from 14 to 25 a day between October 19 and 23 to 171 on October 24 (UTC), in English, Chinese and Arabic, most with the same wording. Yesterday the same account was behind the viral claim that Claude Opus 5.5 is free in Antigravity on a trial, which didn't hold up either.

Does DEVWEEK actually make Oxion Pro free?

Probably yes, for now. Several write-ups dated October 24 describe the same flow: pick Pro, switch to yearly billing, enter DEVWEEK, and the total shows $0 with no card. A OneHack forum guide adds that the code "is not printed on Oxion's own pricing page," and we confirmed that: the word DEVWEEK does not appear anywhere on oxionai.com/pricing, the homepage, the terms or the docs we downloaded.

We did not create an account or apply the code ourselves, so we can't tell you if it still works today. Promo codes like this usually get capped or switched off once they spread.

What the code buys, per Oxion's pricing page: the Pro plan, normally $9.50 a month or $95 a year, with 200M tokens a month and access to all 33 models. The free tier already gives 0.5M tokens a month on every model, no card needed.

Is Oxion AI legit? What the public record shows

Oxion AI is a real, working website with an OpenAI-compatible API, a dashboard, terms, a privacy policy and a refund policy. That alone doesn't make it trustworthy. Here is what we could verify on October 25, 2026:

  • It is brand new. The domain registry record shows oxionai.com was registered on October 9, 2026 through Spaceship, Inc., 16 days ago. Yet its terms, privacy and refund pages say "Effective 23 August 2026," and its changelog dates the v1.0 launch to August 21, 2026, weeks before the domain existed.
  • It is a reseller, not a lab. The terms say: "We do not build or host the underlying models. Model names on our platform may differ from the upstream provider's naming."
  • It doesn't say who serves the models. The privacy policy says "which provider serves a given model is shown on our models page." The models page lists names, prices and context sizes, but no provider.
  • Its payment story changed. The changelog lists "Stripe, PayPal, bKash, Nagad, and crypto." The pricing page now lists Paddle, Binance Pay and USDT or BTC.
  • Its status page showed an outage. At about 10:30 Dubai time on October 25, oxionai.com/status read "Service disruption," with chat completions at 98.6% errors over 19,589 requests in the past hour and "1 of 1 providers active." A minute later the status page returned a 502 error.

None of this proves bad intent. It does mean you are trusting a 16-day-old domain with no named operator, no named upstream provider and a single upstream provider behind 33 models from ten labs.

Why the price doesn't add up for Claude Fable 5

This is the part that should make you pause. Anthropic's pricing page lists Claude Fable 5 at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens. Fable 5 is now a legacy model on Anthropic's models overview, still available, and Fable 5.1 costs the same.

Oxion's model catalog prices claude-fable-5 and claude-fable-5.1 at $16.61 per million tokens, input and output the same. That is a third of Anthropic's output price. Then the plans make it far cheaper again: every plan reaches every model, and Pro gives 200M tokens for $9.50, which works out to $0.0475 per million.

Do the math at Anthropic's own list price. 200M Fable 5 tokens a month would cost $2,000 if every token were input, and up to $10,000 if every token were output. Oxion asks $9.50, or $0 with DEVWEEK. A gateway that passes real Anthropic calls through at that rate would lose money on every heavy user, so something else has to be true: the model is not always what the name says, the tokens come from somewhere they shouldn't, or the plan is designed so most people never use much of it.

One more detail from the catalog: Oxion lists claude-mythos-preview for every plan at $8.30 per million. Anthropic says on its Project Glasswing page that it does "not plan to make Claude Mythos Preview generally available." A public $3.50 plan offering it should raise questions.

Are you getting the real model? What the probe found

BazaarLink, a service that tests API relays, published a probe report for oxionai.com. Between October 17 and 24, 2026 it ran 57 probes across 17 claimed models, comparing behavior fingerprints, token accounting and streaming format rather than trusting what the model says about itself. Its findings:

  • 12 of the last 44 probes were marked swapped (27%).
  • claude-opus-5.5: 6 of 14 swapped. The latest result, on October 24 at 22:53, says "Swapped for Claude Haiku 5.5," Anthropic's cheapest current model at $0.10 per million input tokens.
  • claude-fable-5.1: 2 of 3 swapped, also for Claude Haiku 5.5.
  • claude-fable-5: 1 of 4 swapped. The latest result is "same family, model unconfirmed."

Read it with care. BazaarLink states on the page that it "also provides AI API services and is therefore a market participant," so this is one competitor's test, and four probes on Fable 5 is a small sample. It still matches what the price math suggests.

What are the risks of plugging Oxion into Claude Code or Cursor?

The posts sell DEVWEEK as a coding upgrade, and that is where the risk is highest. Oxion's coding agent docs tell you to set ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL=https://oxionai.com/v1 and your Oxion key in ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN for Claude Code, and to override the OpenAI base URL in Cursor. After that, everything your agent sends to the model, including file contents, diffs and error logs, goes to Oxion first.

Oxion's privacy policy says it does not store prompt content, but it forwards everything to an upstream provider it doesn't name, and failed requests can leave "a fragment of the request" in its logs. You can't check either claim.

If you want to try it anyway, keep the damage small:

  1. Use a fresh, empty test folder, never a work repo or anything with .env files.
  2. Create a separate Oxion key and delete it when you are done.
  3. Don't pay. If you do, avoid crypto: Oxion's refund policy says crypto payments are non-refundable in fiat.
  4. Unset ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL afterwards so Claude Code goes back to Anthropic.
  5. Judge the output, not the label. If "Fable 5" answers like a small fast model, it probably is one.

How can you use Claude Fable 5 for free, really?

From Anthropic, you can't right now. The Claude help center says "Fable 5 isn't available on the Free plan." On Pro and standard Team seats it runs on pay-as-you-go usage credits, and on Max it can use up to 50% of the weekly limit. The free Fable 5 promotion "ended on July 19, 2026."

So the honest options are to pay for usage credits or a Max plan, or to use a cheaper model for most of the work and save Fable for the hard parts. Our free Claude Code cost calculator shows when a plan beats paying per token, and Headroom can cut the tokens you send. If you just want a strong model for free, open-weight models are the safer kind of free. MiniMax M3.1 Flash had a real free window, with weights you can run yourself.

Not every viral AI tip falls apart. The "Hey Grok" iPhone trick that went viral a day later uses a real Apple feature; we checked its fine print in Hey Grok on iPhone: how it works.

The pattern is the same one we saw with the Supabase "12 Claude agents" joke: dozens of copies of one post, a link, and no fine print. The fine print here is a 16-day-old domain, a price 200 times below the source, and a probe that caught swaps.

FAQ

Does the Oxion AI DEVWEEK code really make Claude Fable 5 free?

The code is real in the sense that many people on X and in write-ups dated October 24, 2026 say it turns the yearly Pro plan ($95) into $0. It is not printed on Oxion's own pricing page, and we did not sign up to test it. What you get is Oxion's Pro allowance of 200M tokens a month on its gateway, not Claude Fable 5 from Anthropic. Oxion's terms say model names on its platform may differ from the upstream provider's naming.

Is Oxion AI legit?

Oxion AI is a working website with terms, pricing and an OpenAI-compatible API, but it is very new and unproven. The oxionai.com domain was registered on October 9, 2026. Its catalog prices Claude Fable 5 at $16.61 per million tokens, while Anthropic charges $10 input and $50 output, and Pro sells 200M tokens for $9.50 a month. An independent probe flagged model substitution in 12 of its last 44 checks. Treat it as untrusted and never send it private code or keys.

Is Claude Fable 5 free anywhere?

Not from Anthropic. Claude's help center says Fable 5 isn't available on the Free plan. On Pro and standard Team seats it runs on pay-as-you-go usage credits, and on Max it can use up to 50% of weekly limits. Anthropic's earlier free promotion for Fable 5 ended on July 19, 2026. On the API, Fable 5 costs $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens.

What did the BazaarLink probe find on oxionai.com?

BazaarLink ran 57 probes on 17 claimed models from October 17 to 24, 2026 and flagged model substitution. 12 of the last 44 probes were marked swapped (27%). For claude-opus-5.5, 6 of 14 were swapped, the latest for Claude Haiku 5.5. For claude-fable-5 it was 1 of 4. BazaarLink sells AI API access itself and says so on the page, so read it as one competitor's test, not a final verdict.

Can I use Oxion AI with Claude Code or Cursor?

Oxion's docs show how: in Claude Code you set ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL to https://oxionai.com/v1 and put your Oxion key in ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN, and Cursor uses an OpenAI base URL override. That also means every file and prompt your agent sends goes through Oxion first. Oxion's privacy policy says it does not store prompt content, but forwards it to an upstream provider it does not name on the models page.

Was Oxion AI working on October 25, 2026?

Not well. At about 10:30 Dubai time (06:30 UTC) on October 25, Oxion's status page showed a service disruption, with chat completions at 98.6% errors over 19,589 requests in the past hour and 1 of 1 model providers active. A minute later the status page itself returned a 502 error.

Is it safe to pay Oxion AI in crypto?

Oxion accepts Paddle, Binance Pay and USDT or BTC. Its refund policy offers 7 days for a first paid plan, but says crypto payments are non-refundable in fiat. If you try it at all, use the free tier or the $0 code, a throwaway key and no payment.
